What they do well
- Step-by-step official documentation for almost any fault
- Huge range of spare parts and a massive community, including in Europe
- PrusaSlicer works extremely well with third-party profiles
Where they give trouble
- More expensive for an equivalent build volume
- MK3 models are slow compared to modern CoreXY printers
- Assembly kit: cheaper, but requires time and patience
Workshop tips for Prusa Research
Perfect first layer
Adjust Live Z using the calibration sheet and save it by sheet type. Switching from smooth to textured moves Z by about 0.05 mm.
Third-party profiles
Always start from the Prusament profile for the same material and only tweak temperature and flow. Changing too many things at once makes it impossible to know what improved.
Input Shaper on MK4
Rerun resonance calibration whenever you change the extruder or move the bench; the filter depends on the mechanics and the supporting surface.

Sometimes the part is more urgent than the learning curve. Send us the file and we'll print it with the right material and settings from our workshop in Viladecavalls.
Still not working?
Tell Marco which printer and material you use and he'll tell you what to change.
