The machine that repairs itself: parts and documentation for years to come
The MK4S is the choice for those who want a printer that lasts and can be fixed. It prints beautifully out of the box, but requires a bit more care than a Bambu: first layer levelling via Input Shaper, steel sheets that get dirty, and a Nextruder extruder with its own unique way of jamming.

Maintenance
- Clean the smooth rods and grease them every 500 hours.
- Check belt tension using the firmware tool.
- Wash the steel sheet according to its finish (alcohol or soap).
- Tighten the frame screws once a year.
FAQ
Is the kit worth it compared to the pre-assembled one?
The kit is cheaper and teaches you the machine's internals, but it takes 6–8 hours to assemble. If you need it for work, buy it pre-assembled.
Can an MK4 be upgraded to an MK4S?
Yes, Prusa sells the upgrade kit with a new hotend and fan; the official documentation details the process.
