Creality Ender 3 V3 SE
The budget option that actually works out of the box, with room for improvement
The V3 SE is the most honest entry point: it auto-levels, features a direct drive, and produces good PLA parts. Its limits appear with PETG, tall parts, and the closed firmware it comes with from the factory.

Maintenance
- Tighten the X and Z axis eccentric wheels every 100 hours.
- Grease the Z lead screw with lithium grease.
- Clean the extruder gear.
- Check belt tension with the chassis tensioners.
FAQ
Can you install Klipper?
It is complicated on the V3 SE due to the board; if you want Klipper out of the box, the V3 KE already includes it.
Is it suitable for functional parts?
For functional PLA and PETG, yes. For ABS, ASA, or fibre, you need an enclosed machine and a hardened nozzle.
